Meet Manon Steffan Ros: Wales' Multitalented Artist and New BBC Radio Cymru Presenter (2026)

Get ready, art enthusiasts! Wales's beloved author, Manon Steffan Ros, is about to grace your airwaves as the presenter of the BBC Radio Cymru Arts programme. But this isn't just any presenter; we're talking about a multi-talented artist with a career spanning over two decades.

Manon Steffan Ros isn't just a writer; she's a celebrated novelist and playwright, earning accolades for her literary contributions. Beyond the page, she's a familiar face as a columnist, presenter, and even a singer.

"It's such a privilege," Manon shared, "to present an arts programme on BBC Radio Cymru." She added, "I've been immersed in the arts for over twenty years, in various roles: acting, singing, creating visual art, and of course, writing. I'm excited to continue creating while also having the honor of presenting a radio programme about things I care deeply about."

And this is where it gets interesting... Manon's connection to radio runs deep. "Radio has been a constant companion for me over the years - I always listen, whether to live radio or podcasts, and I learn so much from the medium. I’m also very aware, as someone living in a town with a relatively small percentage of Welsh speakers, that BBC Radio Cymru has been a vital link for me with my culture. That’s true for so many people here in Wales and beyond. All of this means that having the opportunity to be part of the BBC Radio Cymru team is a very special privilege for me, because I’ve felt part of the family, as a listener, for as long as I can remember.”

Manon steps into the role previously held by Ffion Dafis, who is moving on to become the Artistic Director of Theatr Bara Caws in January.

Dafydd Meredydd, Editor of BBC Radio Cymru, describes Manon's appointment as "an exciting step for the station." He highlights her as "a highly respected author and musician who will bring her unique voice and personal stamp to the programme." He further adds that she will take listeners on a journey across Wales, celebrating and reflecting on the essence of creativity today.

Meredydd also extended his sincere gratitude to Ffion Dafis for her dedication and contributions to the arts programme.

Manon Steffan Ros will begin her new role in the studio in Bangor on Sunday, January 25th.
